TTG Green Transportation
Carbon Neutral Transportation Solutions
The impact of increased fuel prices on the transportation industry has never been more evident than it is today. As record numbers of asset based companies close their doors, the “green” movement is gaining momentum and becoming an increasingly important part of the transportation industry.
Carbon dioxide (CO2) is by far the largest contributor to global warming, and freight transportation in the United States alone emits 350 million metric tons per year – that’s more than the gross weight of 10, 500 fully loaded tractor trailers.
TTG is taking the lead in offering carbon neutral transportation solutions With the US economic commitment in this area and tax subsidies related to carbon emission reductions in place, we believe that green transportation programs will be an integral part of every company’s business plan as we move into the next few years.
Trinity Green is an opt-in program offered by TTG, allowing customers the option of supporting programs and investments that reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This is done through the purchase of Verified Emission Reductions (VERs), more commonly known as carbon offsets, which support emissions reductions from alternative energy programs such as wind farm development, solar energy, forest preservation and agri-methane capture.
Enrollment in the Trinity Green program includes consultation, calculation of your company’s carbon emission data, and offset of up to 100 percent of your freight’s carbon footprint. For every ton of carbon dioxide produced, another will be offset in VERs.
Trinity Green offers the following features and benefits:
- Calculation of carbon dioxide emissions based on weight, distance and mode of transportation utilized on a shipment by shipment basis
- Careful evaluation of emissions reduction programs available, and full transparency of the programs your company supports
- Monthly reporting of total carbon dioxide emitted and reductions identified
- Trinity Green Transportation seal on company website and marketing materials
- Timely updates on developments related to potential tax subsidies for companies participating in carbon offset programs
