Executive Profiles

Bob Russell, Managing Partner

Mr. Russell is an expert in the LTL (Less than truckload) industry. He has over 28 years of operations management and direct P&L responsibility for 15 service centers in seven states.

Bob has held quality control responsibilities throughout the entire lower 48 states with UPS Freight. He established operational excellence in identifying and improving quality systems and procedures for the national organization.

Mr. Russell developed a keen understanding of how asset based transportation companies operate, thus allowing customers in the 3PL (Third Party Logistics) industry to access his skill sets on how to package, route or creatively move product at the lowest cost available while still adhering to customer demands.

Rick L Mueller, Managing Partner

Mr. Mueller has over 20 years of transportation experience linked to all modes of transportation where he has served as a Regional Sales Manager, National Account Manager and Director of Special Projects for both asset based and non asset based transportation companies.

Rick’s skill sets are diverse with understanding across all modes of transportation with the strong emphasis on transportation software applications. Rick has been at the forefront of implementation of these useful solutions for companies of all sizes.

Rick’s strengths have historically been displayed in the sales arena but over the past four years he was the lead visionary for a startup company Head Quartered in the San Francisco area. During that time Mr. Mueller was influential in building the infrastructure for this organization. As the company looked toward acquisitions, he lead negotiations and assisted in the purchase of an 8 million dollar organization in North Carolina that handled multiple modes of shipping across North America.

After 4 years Rick was the leading sales producer at this organization where he drove 5.5 million dollars of profit to the company’s bottom line and ultimately assisted the company in their transition in selling their organization to a Billion dollar Transportation leader.

Brian Vargas, VP Sales and Service

As Vice President of Sales and Service, Brian will lead the Trinity Transportation Group sales team as well as bridge the gap between the operations/customer service departments to manage the service portrayed to the customer. In this role, he will also be a key player in solution design, vendor negotiations and performance management.

Prior to joining TTG, Brian was the President/CEO of The Cambridge Group. TCG was a full service logistics company, focusing on expedited air and ground movements. He built the company and grew it organically over 4 years until finally being offered an opportunity to transition his clients to a much more robust portfolio of products and services.

Before moving to Albuquerque, NM to open TCG, Brian was Vice President of Sales and Service at Aero Logistics in San Francisco, CA. There he successfully built a sales team spanning the continental U.S. and created synergies between the sales and operations departments that didn't exist prior to him being hired. Aero experienced substantial growth over Brian's tenure and was eventually sold for 7 times its purchase price in only 5 years.

Brian brings a wealth of knowledge built from 16+ years of industry experience. His prior roles include VP of Sales, Station Owner, Station Manager, and Director of Domestic Services.

Brian lives in Albuquerque, NM and is married to Jean Vargas. They recently welcomed the birth of twin boys, Wyatt and Mason. Brian enjoys coaching athletics and working with the community in his free time.
